 A Bris in Israel is a special and holy occasion where the baby is circumsized, named and welcomed as a new member of the community.   Photos of the bris procedure, for three families, are included in the slideshow below so that anyone can see how safe, quick and simple a bris is.

A Bris in Israel is understated in terms of the venue (usually a shul) and the catering for a simple breakfast or lunch.  The warm atmosphere and the personal welcome to the new baby is what makes a bris in Israel so special.  It is customary not to actually invite your friends to a bris but rather to inform them when and where it will take place because if you do outright invite them to attend, they have an obligation to show up.   The photos of the Babies right after the bris show them looking quite comfortable in their mothers arms.  I specifically took photos of the bris so it is obvious that the only cut is to a bit of skin and only on the safe side of the metal sheild.  A mohel has more expertise in performing a kosher bris than a doctor.
