Yom Yerushalayim is a day of celebrating the liberation of Jerusalem, the ancient Jewish City that is Israel's capital.  View photos of Yom Yerushalayim 2011 Parade  The march spanned miles through Jerusalem, surrounding the Old City and culminating at a celebration of dancing and reciting Psalms at the Kotel, the site of the first and second Jewish Temples.  Jerusalem day is typically celebrated at the Kotel in rememberance of it's liberation since Jews were not allowed access before.
